Barcelona Camp Nou Construction Update May 20, 2025

As any true culé (FC Barcelona fan) would agree, our sacred home is the Camp Nou—even if we’ve been playing at Montjuïc these past seasons—currently undergoing an incredible renovation project.

We’re also big fans of construction, so we’ll be posting regular updates on how the works are progressing and sharing all the details with you.

What is the Espai Barça Renovation Project?

Here’s a video showcasing the Espai Barça project—not just a renovation of the Camp Nou (The Stadium is from 1957), but also the Palau Blaugrana, a smaller ice rink, a bus parking area, office spaces, customer service facilities, and the Barça store, all integrated into a single interconnected space. You can find full details on the official Espai Barça website.

As for the new Camp Nou, the entire stadium is being rebuilt, keeping only the base and the lower tiers. The new roof, which will cover nearly the entire stadium, will feature solar panels. There will be many new VIP areas and boxes. The updated capacity will be nearly 105,000 spectators.

The whole project is expected to cost around €1.5 billion, although—as with all major works—it might end up closer to €2 billion.

The video shows the original project design, though there have been recent changes (for example, the 360° scoreboard on the roof has been replaced with three giant screens):

    The Pitch Has Been Planted

Although the Camp Nou won’t host matches this season after all, the new grass was already planted a few weeks ago (apparently a provisional one), which helps them test all the systems like irrigation and turf maintenance. You can watch a timelapse video of the turf being laid here.

Current Status as of May 20

During the recent league title celebration and the victory parade, there were some excellent helicopter shots of the Camp Nou (as the team bus departed from there), giving us a clear view of the construction’s current state.

We recommend this YouTube channel called Dani Pardo (although there are many covering the Camp Nou works). He usually posts great external shots, gives in-depth explanations, and often shares exclusive updates—like when the turf was planted.

In today’s update, we can see ongoing work on the new stadium structure, especially the installation of trusses for the third tier. He also shared exclusive first images of the visitor’s locker room (still under construction, of course) and the press room.

    Good News! Live Construction Webcam

Barça has done a great job and set up a live webcam that rotates between different angles, so you can watch the progress of the Camp Nou renovations in real time whenever you want. You can find it here:
