League Champions! It’s official! Today, Barcelona had to beat Espanyol to become champions of La Liga, and in their first match point, Flick’s men delivered — they won and are now league champions! This is Barcelona’s 28th La Liga title.
In a tough match, also marked by incidents outside Espanyol’s RCDE Stadium — where a car surrounded by fans ran into a crowd (the exact details are unclear, but fortunately there are no serious injuries) — Barcelona created chances, although Espanyol put up a fight throughout.
Lamine Yamal, the Ballon d’Or
It had to be him — the team’s star — Lamine Yamal, who, after a great control, made his signature move cutting in from the right wing toward the center and curled the ball toward the top corner — and what a goal it was! A stunning strike in the 53rd minute that gave Barcelona much-needed calm and increased Espanyol’s nerves.

Espanyol would go down to 10 men after Leandro Cabrera was sent off, clearing the path to the title. And just in case there were any doubts or early celebrations, Fermín sealed the 0–2 win right at the end, wrapping up both the match and the league — which had already been practically decided after the 4–3 win in El Clásico.

Flick’s double
Or rather, a treble if we count the Spanish Super Cup. Flick kicks off his first season as Barcelona manager by winning the Copa del Rey and La Liga — an excellent debut for the German, who is set to renew his contract with the club soon. Also he won the 4 ‘clásicos’ of the season vs Real Madrid (2 in La Liga, Supercopa de España and Copa del Rey Final). There is no debate who was better, Flick or Xavi.
