Two more seasons, until 2027
Ahead of the UEFA Women’s Champions League final this Saturday against Arsenal (at 18:00), there’s more good news: defender Irene Paredes, one of the pillars of the team in recent years (and the fourth captain), has renewed her contract with FC Barcelona for two more seasons, until June 30, 2027.
At the contract signing, Irene Paredes was accompanied by her family, as well as FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, the board member in charge of the women’s team Xavier Puig, and the women’s sporting director Marc Vivés.
A Key Player for the Team
This season, she has played 37 matches and has been a key figure for head coach Pere Romeu. She has scored five goals, making an impact not only in defense but also in attacking set pieces.
Approaching 150 Official Matches
Irene Paredes has played 143 matches for Barça (93 in the league, 34 in the Champions League, 9 in the Copa de la Reina, and 7 in the Spanish Super Cup), scoring 14 official goals.
She has won no fewer than 12 titles with the Barça women’s team—and could soon add two more, with the Champions League final this Saturday and the Copa de la Reina final in June.
Joan Laporta Visits the Team Before the Final
As part of the club’s ongoing support for women’s football and a division that has brought so much joy to the club, president Joan Laporta and board member Xavier Puig visited the team’s training session to motivate the players ahead of the final. Both will be in Lisbon, where FC Barcelona will look to lift their fourth Women’s Champions League title, and their third in a row.
