Good news for Barça fans: our biggest star, Lamine Yamal, has just renewed his contract with FC Barcelona and now has a new “galactic” deal that matches the level he’s already at—despite being only 17 years old (he turns 18 on July 13).
He signed his new contract alongside club president Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, and sporting director Deco. His agent, Jorge Mendes, was also present.
Details of the new contract
The contract updates his terms to place him at the highest level—aimed at ensuring he stays at Barcelona and doesn’t leave for another club, as all top clubs want him and are offering even more.
The deal runs until June 30, 2031, and his release clause has been set at €1 billion—an amount unreachable even for state-backed or billionaire-owned clubs. (The current record is Neymar’s €222 million transfer to PSG.) This guarantees that no club can “steal” him from us, and even if he wanted to leave, it would have to be a mutually agreed departure.
As for his salary, it has increased significantly. Although no official figures have been released, estimates suggest he will earn around €8–9 million net per season, with numerous performance-based bonuses—including a clause for winning the Ballon d’Or. With all variables, his salary could reach €20 million net per year, making him the highest-paid player in the squad. (Some media outlets also report that it’s a progressive salary, starting at €8M and increasing each season until the end of the contract.)
The player made his first-team debut on April 29, 2023, at just 15 years old, and immediately caught everyone’s attention—not only at Barça but also with the Spanish national team, where he won the European Championship. For Barcelona, he has already scored 25 goals and provided 34 assists. He has also won the 2024 Golden Boy award for the best young player in the world.
